This project includes a custom data exploration tool called the Community Catalog. Read more about it in this Talk post and try it out at https://community-catalog.zooniverse.org/projects/juliehgibb/stereovision

Stereovision

Help make our collections at National Museums Scotland more accessible by classifying 19th century stereographs of the International Exhibition of 1862, through creating keywords and alternative descriptions.

Our classification and keyword association workflows will be primarily multiple choice and single word entry. We’d suggest starting off with the classification workflow, followed by the keywords association workflow to familiarise yourself with the images. The alt text and extended description workflow will require you to study the photograph and describe what you see, so we suggest allowing more time for this workflow.

We're excited to launch this project. It's been a pleasure working on this project over the past year and getting to know the collection. Together with the Zooniverse community, let's reinterpret these images to improve accessibility to our collections!

About Stereovision

Welcome to Stereovision, a project aiming to increase the accessibility and findability of a collection of Victorian stereographs depicting the International Exhibition of 1862, part of the Howarth-Loomes collection at National Museums Scotland.

We invite you to help us enhance our catalogue records of these stereographs by assigning keywords, selecting classifications, and writing alternative and extended descriptions, based on the text and content of the stereographs.

You can read more about our project and aims in the About section and the Field Guide. For help on the tasks, see the tutorials on individual workflow pages. If you have any questions or want to discuss the project with fellow volunteers and the project team, go to the Talk section.
