As part of my graduate research, I created a Zooniverse project that involves classifying the body parts of Asian Elephants. I am looking for 10 Beta testers to test out my platform before we submit it to Zooniverse. There are 6 elephant subjects, with 14 questions per elephant, making that 84 questions to answer in total. This will take approximately 40 minutes.
Please comment if you are interested in testing my platform, and I will give your account permission to start using the workflow. Thank you.
The help link and links to talk and links did not work for me. Maybe this beta was just to test whether the cat was too big or too small in container or in the middle shrodenger’s cat but when had question or to talk about certain case the talk link not work. also seemed to be only a few like 20 different images that keep repeating. could not find s way to do feedback for this beta test except by going to this bigger zooniverse discussion of all beta testing. Hope this helps or disregard. Not sure . okay it is not april first today or this week but u got me. good joke april 01 beta study.
Hi,
Click on your username (top right) and then on Settings - email and tick the box for 'Get beta project email updates and become a beta tester'
That way you get contacted to beta test projects.
Thanks for your participation.
One has to be careful not to request an export more than once (within 12 hours -24 hours depending on the export) . If you do the system freezes up saying a report is being generated, but it is not. The solution is to simply ask for another export after you are sure 24 hours has past from the last request - even though it is saying the a report is in progress it should start over.
Sometimes things just get frozen and you have to request zooniverse staff to fix it - email to the regular contact email address.
I find following the link to the exports from the notification email often results in the export failing to download, so I generally navigate to the data export section of the project builder myself, then request the export by clicking the blue link. Even that sometimes takes two tries.
You also get two tries at getting the classification data - through a full data export and via a workflow classification export for the workflow you are interested in.
We have developed a project, which we are now testing with a number of participants.
I asked for a data categorization export in CSV format, however it appears that export has been stalled since last Thursday. The export is being produced).
I've asked for a new process categorization output in the interim. Although I went to the lab data exports website after receiving an email indicating that Classification data for Cocoa fruit annotation is ready, nothing is there. www.mybkexperience.com survey
I appreciate your support.
Given the number of beta testers these days, 214 subjects is on the low side but it is what you have ready so I would run with all 214 subjects. You will want reasonably clean data out of the beta test so you can evaluate the accuracy/usefulness of the data coming from the project, so if these subjects have classifications which are suspect ( eg workflow changed) that were done will the project was "Live" you may want to create clean subject sets. Remember classifications done while in Development mode did not count to retirement and can be cut out of your analysis of the beta test by date done - it would be a problem if there were classifications done while Live that are no good yet count towards retirement.. If the classifications done while live are valid then there is no problem just proceeding with the current subject sets.
For a simple survey task like this I would expect to run the beta test data through the entire analysis pipeline - ie flatten, aggregate it and filter it for consensus to ensure the accuracy is there to warrant proceeding. ( I do think this project will challenge volunteers that have little experience with these creatures).
I have a generic script for survey tasks which will handle this. You may want to do other things with the data latter but this will certainly suffice for checking the beta test results are usable. So for your "plan" just tell zooniverse you will have me run a preliminary analysis with existing Python based scripts .
I have just submitted the project "Marine Creatures" for a review. I was sent a document with best practices that says:
"Create a test subject set to use for beta review and all pre-launch testing. This will help to make sure you can easily identify pre-launch and post-launch classification data. This set should be between 150-300 subjects at minimum, depending on the complexity of your task."
My question is: since the project has 214 subjects in total (in 3 subject sets), should I recreate another subject set with all of them in?
Or is it ok to leave it as it is?
And as for the guideline: "Request a data export and make a plan for data aggregation. We’ll ask you to share your data aggregation plan before launching your project, to ensure your project in its current state will provide data that you’re able to use in your research. " what exactly should this plan include?
Hello, is any one working on -poets and lovers? I need the link, there's a problem with my email, its not opening.

Hi Kate,
i saw the date of your comment. How long it took for you to get feedback ?
As the team is very busy . i don't want to disturb too much.

So yes, since as Elizabeth said there is n't a place to go to find betas, do keep the email.

You will get contacted on a regular basis to participate in beta testing projects.
But there isn't a repository of beta projects that you can try out.

I have done this. but cant I find the projects from the website? Should I keep the email if I want to try a project?

Hello,
dump question, but how do I find beta projects? Like where are they located on the website?

What is a "process categorization output" ?
