Percent completeThere is so much we can learn with better information about the clumps that we're hoping this project will provide!
Galaxy Zoo: Clump Scout IIOne of the big questions in galaxy evolution is why there are very few galaxies with clumpy structure in the local Universe when they were so common in the past.
Since nearby galaxies are easier to observe than galaxies further away, we can also study them in greater detail.
The first Galaxy Zoo: Clump Scout project helped to find a large sample of these local clumpy galaxies. In this project we hope to learn more about the detailed shapes and substructure of these clumps. We need help from volunteers to check and, if necessary, correct the predictions made by a machine learning model on what it thinks are clumps.
This project is brought to you by the Galaxy Zoo team.
