FAQ

Q: I can’t decipher the writing, now what?

A: Try to decode the text as well as you can with the help of the field guide. Don't worry if you don’t get everything right! A paper slip is always transcribed by several participants in order to obtain an accurate transcript. Try your best and mark any sections you are unsure about as "unclear". Alternatively, you can simply skip the paper slip.

Q: Is it possible to edit my transcription of a paper slip at a later time?

A: No, unfortunately paper slips can't be edited once you click "finish". However, each paper slip is shown to and transcribed by three participants, so don't worry if you didn't get everything right.

Q: Why aren't there more paper slips to reflect on?

A: We have to manually download the transcriptions, process them and reupload them as reflection material. That is why we wait some time for finished transcriptions to pile up before including them into the reflection process.
At the beginning of our project and as part of the Citizen Science Awards 2023, we focused on words that have something to do with the topics of school and family. That's why most of the finished transcriptions available for reflection revolve around these topics.
