Alexandra N. Lenz acts as the principal investigator and project leader. She is a university professor at the Centre for German Studies at the University of Vienna and the director of the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences where the Lexical Information System Austria (LIÖ) platform is hosted. She enables the cooperation and coordination between German in Austria (Deutsch in Österreich.Variation – Kontakt – Perzeption. (DiÖ)), Lexikalisches Informationssystem Österreich (LIÖ), Wörterbuch der Bairischen Mundarten in Österreich (WBÖ) and the Top Citizen Science (TCS) project “The ABCs of dialect: exploring historical notes digitally”.
Philipp Stöckle is our expert on the data itself. He is group leader at the ACDH-CH and Chief editor of the WBÖ and therefore acts as national research partner and contact person for WBÖ and LIÖ.
Amelie Dorn is a postdoctoral researcher at the DiÖ project at the University of Vienna and project manager at the ACDH-CH. She coordinates the collaboration between DiÖ and "The ABCs of dialect” and contributes to the coordination of the tasks.
Rebecca Stocker is an academic project staff member and the expert on citizen science of our project. She is responisble for the implementation of the project tasks, which include contact with the citizens, working with the WBÖ materials as well as communication managment.
Our technical team consists of Markus Kunzmann, Daniel Schopper and Nikola Krisztian Czindrity from the ACDH-CH and develops, designs and implements the platform on Zooniverse.
The Top Citizen Science project “The ABCs of dialect: exploring historical notes digitally” is linked to the SFB "German in Austria" (“Deutsch in Österreich”, DiÖ), but the most important project content (WBÖ paper slips, technical infrastructure) is part of the long-term project "Dictionary of Historical Bavarian Dialects in Austria and South Tyrol" (“Wörterbuch der historischen bairischen Mundarten in Österreich und Südtirol”, WBÖ) at the Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage (ACDH-CH) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). The platform created by “ The ABCs of dialect” is linked both to the existing LIÖ project (“Lexikalisches Informationssystem Österreich”, LIÖ; which provides the publication platform of the WBÖ) and to the current lexical data of the PP03 in the DiÖ project. Our project thus acts as a bridge between the historical dialect data (WBÖ) and the current data collected in DiÖ. We are also represented on Österreich forscht, the platform for citizen science projects in Austria and a member of the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA).
